SAVE THE LABOUR PARTY!

The true nature of New Labour's planned agenda in the wake of the Abrahams scandal today revealed in the Guardian. And, apologies for yet again quoting Jackie Ashley. But this is the way the wind is blowing in the media "elite." And at Number 10. They can't wait to have a go at finally putting the last coffin in the nail of Labour's federal structure. Indeed, it is hailed as a "new dawn."
And, as Ashley says: "If Labour breaks the union link, and relies instead on donations from individual trade unionists and members, then the party would be profoundly changed. One of the great differences between Labour and the liberal tradition, going back a century, would vanish." And so, of course, would the Labour Party.

Well now New Labour want donations from single Unions, I Hope they ask the memberships who they want to give money to. I will be first in line to offer my Levy to Charity.

I will not give money to a Party which left me, dumped me for profits.

No thanks, Unions should make a break from this so Called Labour party.

Dear Susan

Aren't you a member of an organisation called Save the Labour Party. In the absence of a hat-tip, and your use of the Labour Representation Committee, oops former Labour Party insignia, is this another example of identity theft?

your first anon comment
is obviously not a TU member
(despite his/her claim to be so)
as any member can already opt out of LP levy

so just what union are you in anon ????

It would not suprise me if New Labour engineered this entire thing to try and break the union link, or at least elements within the party (I don't think some of it quiet adds up)

Even if they didn't, they shouldn't change the party funding rules in a manner which would kill off the Labour Party for good.

Peter, there is no copyright on the phrase. I was referring not to the Save The Labour Party organisation , of which as you correctly point out I remain a member but the current political circumstances which I perceive as being very dangerous for Labour. The badge is a LABOUR PARTY badge and yes, it's used by the LRC. So? There is no "identity theft" going on you are just being silly. Left right and centre will all be stuffed if we lose the union link

I fear the deadly deed has already been done

all

to keep a few blairites/brownities from going down

However, They will only kill off the link if we let them

just because money is stopped from the centre does not mean we cannot still have union branches affiliated to CLPs etc

We need to be thinking a little more rather than joining the end is nigh bandwaggon

OK, keep the union link - but within an overall control of total expenditures for all parties, both between and in election campaigns.

At present the sheer amount of money needed has meant snouts in troughs we should not go near.
