Three years ago I stopped off overnight in Henley on Thames en route to Brighton for the Labour Party Conference. Nice pubs, great curry house. Lovely spot. But hardly a bastion of labour movement solidarity. Nevertheless, in the three years since the socialist dawn of May 2005, Labour's share of the vote has dipped from 14 per cent to 3 per cent and a LOST DEPOSIT. Not just staring into the abyss, but sinking ever further into it. When , when , when is the Parliamentary Labour Party going to act to stop the relentless march of the Labour Party to electoral oblivion in 2010. And stop allowing Gordon Brown to get away with one ill-judged policy after another. At least Ben Bradshaw had the grace to say it was "a terrible vote." That, Minister, is putting it mildly. So where did Gordon get it wrong?
1.Ensuring there was no contest for the leadership
2. Ensuring there was no-one in the cabinet from the left-of-centre
3. Inviting Tories like Digby Jones and Quentin Davies into his "big tent" and excluding the left-of-centre
4. Not facilitiating withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan
5 Abolishing voting at Labour Party Conference
6 Dog-whistle politics on immigration and border controls
7 Macho posturing on 42 days, nuclear power, civil liberties
8 Further triangulation to the right and more Blairism
9 Public sector pay
10 10pence tax fiasco

It's time to consider just what is labour's core vote?
'cos you're gonna have to merge with the Liberals soon!
Oh boy, even the fascists beat you.
It's going to get grimmer and when it does, boy, it's really going to get grim.
An SWP CC bod, describes what is happening as 'the 30's in slow motion', usually i think they are crazy, however on this one, they may have some purchase. I know a number of former labour voters who if the economic crisis get worse, (S/markets falling across the world yesterday), and their other concerns are not listened to, such as mass migration (and unlike Susan i think we do need fair but firm immigration controls) they will move to far right parties
"The Strange Death of England's Labour" perhaps???
The Tories were here
everyone said they were dead
its an eight year cycle of capitalism
we need PR....then Tories who post on your site wouldnt be bragging
I don't think most voters are too worried about trident.
Brown has got to go. Now.
Labour is going to lose. But it needs a leader who can damage Cameron so as to ensure there is not a meltdown of the Labour vote.
As it is, Cameron is going to walk it and walk over everyone with a huge majority.
Like Labour you mean.
when will we get a debate on PR
We'll get a debate on PR when there's the Lib-Dems hold the balance of power in parliament.
The price of its support for a government would be the introduction of PR.
The Lib Dem's I'd rather have another Blair government, the Lib Dem's while all this trouble is going on hope to get into power by sharing, what bloody next Clegg for leader.
I'll give you a couple more reasons:
11. Presiding over the merging of state and corporate power that Benito Mussolini described as 'the essence of fascism'.
12. Committing high treason by signing away our national sovereignty.
I don't just want to see this New Labour regime fall, I want to see trials and convictions for the paramount crimes that have been committed by these bastards.
Those complaints may be what bothers Labour party activists, but they are hardy going to drive Labour voters to vote Tory, rather than Liberal Democrat.
And yet it is the Tories that have been doing well, not the LibDems.
