SPEAKER IGNORES CALLS TO QUIT

Valiant Pendle Labour MP Gordon Prentice was apparently among the Parliamentarians urging the Speaker to quit amid astonishing scenes this afternoon. No surprise, really that he did not. Such intransigence in the face of overwhelming opposition will not be helpful to any hopes of restoring faith in the House Of Commons. He should listen to the voices urging him to go- and do it.
