SILENCE IS GOLDEN

I find it utterly ghastly that Margaret Cook has cashed in on yet another opportunity to jaw on in the tabloid press about the way in which she was unceremoniously dumped by her late ex-husband. An opportunity afforded, obviously, by the Campbell diaries. This happened 10 years ago yet she seems compelled to play the victim over and over again. Bit of a contrast, really, to Cook's widow Gaynor, who as far as I know has said nothing to the media since Robin Cook's untimely death two years ago. If, as Margaret Cook says, she now "has no emotion" about what happened, why on earth does she not just maintain a dignified silence?. Frankly, if I had been treated in such a way the last thing I would do is a) endlessly rake it up and b) retain my ex-husband's name. Still, the latter option has been a nice little earner for her in various newspapers ( and the lecture circuit) for quite some time.....
