THE UBIQUITOUS CHIP......

Sad just now to read of the death of Ronnie Clydesdale, owner of The Ubiquitous Chip in Glasgow's West End. Never able to afford the more upmarket Chip "downstairs" I used to eat there years ago usually in tandem with a former partner at the Upstairs eaterie where you got the cheaper offcuts. Lobster tails rather than lobster, haggis rather than venison......it was marvellous. And it's still there. Sadly, CND supporter Ronnie no longer is. I shall always remember the place fondly. So-named, of course, because there wasn't a chip in sight........
