I was really pleased with the vote yesterday in the House of Commons ( also backed by Ian McCartney and tacitly by John Prescott) now comes the difficult bit. 800 words on this and other low pay issues following an interview with USDAW General Secretary John Hannett.
I also have a lighter piece to write on restaurants - and a meeting at 3pm. Why do I do this ?
I actually woke at 6.15 and lay awake for two hours pondering going for a walk, getting a paper, healthy breakfast and three hours writing before lunchtime. Did none of those things, fell back asleep and this is the consequence.
There is also the business of Operation Gaunt Shadow to contemplate......In 10 weeks time or so I will possibly ( but not inevitably) become Mayor of Hebden Royd which will entail many functions and photo opps. As, obviously, I want to look my best I need to lose some weight - fast. The plan is a vegan diet for several weeks, no organic cider and halving alcohol intake. Usually does the trick. Unfortunately, I do this about three times a year, lose half a stone, and then put it all back on again. So much so that "Operation Gaunt Shadow" has in fact become a joke among my little circle. Anyway, need to stop displacement blogging and start writing.....
