It should come as no surprise to anyone that a member of the Royal Family has reactionary views. But I find the Prime Minister's comments re Prince Harry's racist remarks a little disingenuous. Gordon Brown rightly said the comments were "unacceptable" but went on to say they played "no part in our life" and that we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Well, I have no doubt that is the diplomatic thing to say if you are Prime Minister but the truth is that Harry's remarks DO play a part in our lives. Especially here in West Yorkshire where such stories are oxyden to the BNP
They give credence at the highest level to the notion it is somehow not so bad to sneer at someone because of their colour. They reinforce racism. And they are profoundly damaging and insulting. Let's not forget this is the lad who is so oblivious to the real world that he thought it was a hoot to wear a Nazi uniform to a party. And, if anyone in Govrnment or even the Conservative Shadow Cabinet made such a remark they would instantly be sacked. Harry may be an upper-class buffoon. He is also third in line to the throne. Regrettably.

It really should not be for Labour PMs to rush to the aid and defence of royals. Blair did it after Diana and now Brown. Just let them rot by themselves until we get a republic.
I can only quote verbatim wise words from a wise source which modesty forbids me mentioning:
"Suffice to say that 'Paki' is a four-letter diminutive indicating a member of a particular nationality, much the same as 'Brit', 'Yank', 'Frog' and 'Mick'. In and of themselves these abbreviations mean nothing, it is usually the preceeding word that gives you a clue as to the speaker's meaning and intent, for example, if it is a word beginning with 'f' with the suffix 'ing', then I think you can take it as an insult. If not, not! Oddly enough, the people who leap up and down at the use of the word 'Paki' which is neutral, would be outraged if one was to suggest outlawing the use of the 'f'-word, not least because they would be struck dumb without it."
Fuck off Duff!
See what I mean?
