Both The Times and the BBC today report that some kind of agreement has been struck between the two Left candidates for the Labour leadership . The basis being that whoever has the least nominations will step down. Good news.
The bad news is that Meacher is still equivocating and talking coyly about "centre-left candidates" ie himself being on the ballot. He's also sticking to his tale that he has 24 signed nominations. At the risk of being a bore about this, who are they and where are they? Not one statement of Meacher solidarity from a supporting MP. Odd. no?
It really looks as though this is going to go to the wire. The suspense would be killing me were it not for the fact I'm pretty fed-up with Meacher's antics. My heartfelt sympathies to the McDonnell camp. What a nightmare this must be.......
