The procedures were all in place and ready to go. Mysteriously , the regional Labour Party has now called the whole thing off. AWS or no AWS? We were told it was DEFINITELY all-women. Now it seems not......why am I thinking shenanigans? PS:Now I really AM going to take a holiday from blogging......

There is a warning here Grim.
Watch out for an increase in USDAW affiliations. I have heard tell that USDAW is Brown fave union to organise against any left candidates.
Ian
There must be a rationale for a change. Seek the rationale. Usdaw would surely have no part in deciding AWS or otherwise. And HQ could back a woman candidate onto the ballot as well as a man. Could it be a consolation deal for a left out Salford MP? Or a seat for an NEC loyalist?
Organise and get the women you want in the shortlist and selected.
"Could it be a consolation deal for a left out Salford MP? "
Ian Stewart is trying in Bolton South East
"Organise and get the women you want in the shortlist and selected"
I think the concern was that if polls remain good and Brown decides to call a snap election this Autumn, there won't be time for a full selection process to take its course and there may be the chance that the NEC will be in charge of the shortlist decision
Absolutely. Let's just say deep suspicion at RO we have a couple of left women who might be interested. And likely to get selected.
Ian Stewart not on Bolton SE shortlist!!
