Glancing through the egotistical nightmares of Campbell's diaries , which continue to be splashed all, over the papers, a telling quote from Neil Kinnock in relaton to Blair. To put it in context, he was apoplectic with rage that TB was about to cosy up to Rupert Murdoch, whose Sun newspaper famously rubbished him on the day of the 1992 General Election ( see left)
I quote: "He's sold out before he's even got there. Tax, health, education, unions, full employment, race, immigration, everything. He's totally sold out. And for what? What are we FOR? It won't matter if we win, the bankers and the stockbrokers have got us already, by the f****** balls, laughing their heads off." Wonder what erstwhile left-winger Neil REALLY thinks about New Labour? As one of its architects, he must now have considerable regrets.

If only Kinnock had been that direct during his leadership, he might have won an election.
Yet in public, he was always four-square behind TB. He even proposed dropping Clause 4 a few months before TB's election. But yes, it's a great quote.
Indeed, but like all of them he's now also "sold out" albeit highly critical of George Bush.....
Interesting.
I was at the Wales TUC a few years ago when Neil and Glenys Kinnock both spoke.
Neil pretty much toed the line - but Glenys was quite critical from a centre left perspective.
I guess Alistair - who is a PR genius so will have chosen his words carefully - is deliberately stitching up NK with the in crowd.
NK is living like a Lord thanks to Blair ... if you invite him to speak at a fundraiser be sure to check the cost of the best suite at the nearest ***** hotel and a limo between ...
