It's kind of difficult to fathom the greed of bankers at the Royal Bank Of Scotland. Already earning salaries most of us can only dream of, they see it as their right to demand a "bonus" adding up to an estimated £1.5billion. £75,000 each. At our expense.
The Government has an 84 per cent stake in the RBS yet bank bosses are telling the Treasury to get lost over its veto of the bonuses. Unbelievable, isn't it?
What also beggars belief is that the Govt is seemingly allowing them to call the shots.
It's time for the Treasury to take control, end the perks for already rich directors, and give the public, most of whom are coping with LESS money this Christmas, an early present.
Such a move would win widespread public suport, and boost Labour's chances of a much-needed boost in the polls.

Far be it for me to defend these bankers, but...
Surely this is a matter of contract law. An employment contract can only be varied in 3 ways. By agreement with the individual, by a collective agreement on their behalf (usually by a trade union) or by one party arbitrarilly terminating the contract with due notice.
If the individuals concerned have an employment contract with RBS, which the employer is threatening to arbitrarily change, they are entitled to claim dismissal, and if necessary take their case to an employment tribunal.
We can all sympathise with what the Government want to do, but be careful what you wish for. If you think employers should just be able to rip up a contract and issue a new one, with no recriminations, just because it is popular with the public and the tabloids, how will you feel if the same thing happens on other employment contracts? Bank clerks could have their contracts changed at the whim of RBS management, the civil service workers could be issued new contracts tomorrow.
What the RBS bankers are saying is that employment lawyers have advised them that in a circumstance where their employer acts in this was they are entitled to say they were sacked.
Susan, on a different note, has anyone from Stoke spoken to you? There is some real crap happening in the Party there.
But now Brown is saying OK well yes we have to pay a Bonus, but it must be the same as the other banks, well Lloyd's are paying out record bonus payments. so whats the answer well voting brown back in will not work, so who do we vote for it's difficult now.
Labour are the Tories, the Tories are Turning to be pinkish! red, the Lib Dem's are well anything you want them to be.
So who does a socialist now vote for because I've no idea.
Bob, I don't know anyone in Stoke but Peter Kenyon of Save The Labour Party and NEC is on the case......
