SCAPEGOATED BY THE NEC

Ian Gibson stood down in protest after being scapegoated by the NEC. The result is a Tory gain in Norwich North. People in the constituency weren't having it that their MP had done more wrong than others who stay in high office. So Labour has lost.
How many times do the NEC have to ignore the wishes of local constituencies before they accept they have made seriously bad decisions. All Ian Gibson did was sell his home to his daughter at a below market rate. Yes, a mistake but he did not" flip" his home or avoid capital gains tax, make outrageous claims for food and lavish luxuries. Those who did, including Hazel Blears, James Purnell, Shahid Malik, Alisdair Darling were not hauled up in front of the NEC and told they could not be MPs. Why not? The lack of consistency on MPs' expenses, and refusal to listen to grasssroots members, has cost Labour this seat.Bad call, bad mistake, and utterly unfair. Gibson was made a scapegoat for far greater transgressors. The NEC's "star chamber." has been an undemocratic, ineffective , and inconsistent disaster.

Yes I totally agree we should leave all the cheats in place, that way we can keep hounding the poor who cheat the system and leave the people who steal what did he steal oh yes something like £75,000.

The fact is this bloke known to have cheated the tax payers out of thousands.

But hell thats New labour for you, protect the rich and steal from the poor ..

The answer is of course an election and allow the grass root voters to decide.

Robert, Ian Gibson did far less wrong than most of the MPs who were ignored by the NEC. He sold his home to a member of his family. Maybe he shouldn't have. The point is why was he singled out? Because unlike those like Purnell, Blears et al, he is NOT New Labour. His local Party were oitraged, and his constituencts also made it clear they would not vote for his replacement, an ultra Blairite

But in the end he cheated if the house cost £150,000 he robbed the tax payers of £75,000 thats not pennies.

yes I agree with people like Blears and Purnell and others should have gone but i think the public will cure New labour of any more worries.

Cheating expenses was rife it would have carried on, it did not because of freedom of information, I notice the house was not reclaimed.

I've no sympathy for cheats of any kind especially when they get £64,000 a year I have more feeling for the young mother work works as a prostitute while claiming £65 a week in JSA.
