Intriguingly, the Independent reports today that activists are going to "try and force a vote" on windfall tax at Labour Party Conference. I hope this is so and I will urge our delegate to support but how exactly are we going to "vote" as contemporary motions have been abolished. Presumably, it will be a symbolic vote ? If passed, it will at least show we can raise issues and get them debated. And next year let's bring back contemporary motions.......

I've given up!, being disabled I want to know what will happen next year and the year after, Labour has really stuffed this country and for the first time in my life I look forward to a Tory government, because to be honest this Labour party is going nowhere it has no idea's, for god sake the big word now is gold medals MBE medals and re branding Labour into YOUR LABOUR, well mate it's not mine Labour anymore nor likely to be for a long time.
As for the wind fall tax it's compass getting it's name in the media more then actuially doing anything, a wind fall tax will be re claimed next year or the year after.
Susan
When you are in Manchester you should try and eat at the Bawadi Cafe.
It's brilliant and we reviewed it here.
We don't have shares. We just want it to survive.
Phil,
as they say "we feel your pain", but we need a Labour Party and that means fighting for one. New Labour stole our party - it's time to take it back!
Windfall tax - let's hope so, but the whole taxation system needs a thorough reveiw and reforming on the basis of the ability to pay.
Susan,
perhaps we should book the Bawadi Cafe for the Friday night Briefing meal?
Steve, aka Bill Stickers, suggest eastzeast for the friday night meal as it's next door to the hotel and has an excellent reputation - have eaten in their other branch and it's fab. Bawadi cafe another night??? Can't have too many curries after all....
