POA- THE FIGHT CONTINUES

If the Government is squaring up for a fight on public sector pay then my guess is they are going to get one. With no promises on the table from Ministers doggedly sticking to Brown's "no surender" line, prison officers are understandably keeping their powder dry at present. But let no-one under-estimate the determination and anger out there from the people at the sharp end of the growing divide between well-paid executives and front-line workers.
As POA general secretary, Brian Caton says today: "We will continue to press for no more and no less than what we should have been given by an independent pay review body appointed and selected by the government.
"And if the government continue to want to stage pay across the public services, then they'd better get ready for a rough time at the TUC, and at the Labour Party conference because we're not going to let this go." It is our duty as socialists in the Labour Party to support their fight all the way.
