OH NO, ANOTHER BLOODY TORY!

Oh joy. Some Tory I've never heard of is defecting to Labour. IDS supporter Quentin Davies (who,he?) is crossing the floor and will be no doubt a loyal supporter of PM Broon.

Oldham MP Phil Woolas is beside himself with glee and says this is the "most significant defection since 1945" or some crap like that. Why do some Labour MPs think it's great when Tories join them? Does that not suggest to their wildly beating hearts that maybe there could be something amiss with their policies and that they might be a tad too right-wing? More bad news for the left. More voting fodder for Gordon. No doubt QD will soon find himself in the "government of all the talents." Like Shaun Woodward. Who I once met late at night at Labour Party Conference and let's just say he's one of the most deeply unpleasant individuals I have ever come across.

Oh? Shaun speaks very highly of you Susan. This is surely electorally good for Labour (Left, Right or Centre) in places where it's a Red-Blue fight and Mr Cameron is unloved ... like where you are.

Excuse me while I bang my head on the table.Lib Dems in Cabinet, Tories in PLP.Forgive me if I do not share your joy.Expediency is not all and some obscure Tory geezer thinking he might as well be in the Labour Party does not make my socilaist heart beat with joy.

1. He'll vote against the Tories in parliament. 2. It embarrasses the Tory Party. 3. He has not changed Labour policy.

I'm not seeing a problem.

You're right to be disgusted, Susan. If you want to know who Quentin is, I've written on my blog about his gay-hating, anti-union, pro-fox hunting, unashamedly Thatcherite politics...

He will be out of the commons by 2009/2010, unless they parachute him into a safe seat (If so, then if it becomes another Beleau Gwent, it would again be an attempt to teach the party a lesson.)

The left needs to fight back more, the late Peter Law did this, and Labour is still paying the price for it, especally at the Assembly (Although Welsh Labour at the Assembly is slightly more left wing) but at Westminister aswell. Belaau Gwent was one of the safest Labour seat in the UK, and Wales. Now it is a comfortable Independent seat, with the socialist "Peoples' Voice" AM and MPs being Trish Law (wife of the late Peter Law) and Dai Davies MP, who use to be his agent, both winning it in a by-election, after Peter Law won it from Labour in the 2005 general election. The by-election defeat for Labour shows the issue was much more then just about women only short lists, and this could happen in other safe Labour seats across the UK, unless something is done.
