THE RANTINGS OF THE RIGHT

The ever preposterous Luke Akehurst has excelled himself this week with two extraordinarily nasty personal attacks on Christine Shawcroft and the Labour Left. He clearly hasn't read the LRC's programme as he seems to think we are training up with Kalashnikovs and poised to storm the House of Commons ands set up worker's soviets. Except that he doesn't think that at all. But it suits his New Labour agenda to spread the myth we are a bunch of nutters hell-bent on destroying democracy. In fact, the opposite is the case. Democracy in this Party has been destroyed by his pals on the right.

We wanted a democratic choice for Labour Leader. That was quashed by Brown's Stalinist tactics. Decent, moderate proposals like the Trade Union Freedom Bill were talked out by Labour's apparatchiks and Andrew Miller's Agency Workers Bill only got through with the tacit support of John Prescott, who stopped that being talked out too. We also have a Government which promised a referendum in its manifesto and has weaselled out of it. Another blow to democracy. And don't get me started on what New Labour has done to our annual conference.......I want democratic socialism. Not bloody insurrection. Still, must go , need to buy a new set of military fatigues ........

It seems that half the time (at least on his blog!) Luke is still living in about 1994 and still engaged in some (no doubt very worthwhile!) crusade to keep Socialist Organiser delegates out of Labour Students conferences... And as, in 1994, Luke was wishing he was living in about 1984 and expelling Millies, I'm not sure an awful lot of what he writes - when he gets onto internal party matters - have an awful lot to do with the present day!

"Rantings of the right!

Susan, you are such a tease! You had me quite excited there for a moment thinking that 'Dave' Cameron had actually said something meaningful, and it all turned out to be yet another 'Tone drone'.

The british far left is so far bhind the times, its not Kalasnickovs that will be useing. It will be the Mosin nagant long rifle of the pre-revoloution.

I'm actually living in about 1953, trying to get the Bevanites thrown out of the PLP. In those days Morgan Phillips would have expelled a Christine Shawcroft type well before she got near being a PPC.

Luke, you are pathetic.Nye Bevan said the Tories were "lower than vermin" and you're not much better. And tell me what is a "Christine Shawcroft type?" In my view it's someone who is committed to the Labour Party and socialist values.Which you are not........

Luke - In those days the party leader got up in conference and declared the party was over-run with communist entryists.

In those days we were in opposition!

Labour is at its best when its wings can have an honest and open debate about the issues without resorting to wild accusations, reds-under-the-bed scare-mongering, or threats of expulsion!

One wonders if Brother Akehurst entered the Labour party with a desire to expel people. What's the answer, Luke? Why do you hate the very people the Labour party once stood for?
