VICTORY FOR ANTI ARMS CAMPAIGNERS

Increasingly, the Left is having to go outside Parliament in the interests of social justice.A sad but true reflection of the state of all out political parties.
So well done to the anti-arms campaigners who have scored a victory with the High Court ruling that the Serious Fraud Office acted illegally in dropping its probe into BAE Systems under Saudi-instigated pressure from the government.
In a landmark judgement, two senior judges have ruled that Serious Fraud Office director Robert Wardle had unlawfully bowed to political pressure not to investigate claims of bribery relating to the BAE Systems £43 billion al-Yamamah arms deal with Saudi Arabia.
Judges said that terminating the investigation in December 2006 was a "successful attempt by a foreign government to pervert the course of justice in the United Kingdom."
The judgement was handed down by Lord Justice Moses and Mr Justice Sullivan in response to a challenge brought by the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and anti-bribery group Corner House.
